Why are different thread forms used on the various types of window screws and how can you make sure you choose the right types to assemble your windows and doors?

The fasteners that are used every day in window and door manufacturing are designed specifically for that purpose.

With 2022 set to mark the 30-year landmark for window and door fastener specialist Rapierstar, founder and Managing Director David Furness talks about the company’s journey so far, and why our latest investment in world-class technology, training facilities and new products will take customer support to a new level.

It is certainly no surprise that more companies are looking to find new suppliers given the unprecedented circumstances of the last 18 months. This is typical of the feedback Rapierstar receive because we work continuously to be able react quickly to the changing needs of the door and window market.

In recent months, whilst you will have been reading headlines about global shipping issues and product shortages hitting UK productivity, Rapierstar has been busy boosting stock levels at our 100,000 sq. ft bonded warehouse in Cheshire. By investing in large volumes of products equivalent to many months’ worth of supply, we are helping to ensure that UK and Irish window and door fabricators have access to the largest range of specialist fasteners, for immediate delivery.

Using the wrong fasteners to attach hardware to a door or window frame will undermine performance of the finished product. It doesn’t matter whether it's a basic, entry level friction stay or the latest generation of advanced high security locking systems it has to be secured to the frame properly or it is not fit for purpose.
